⭐ Caregiver / MAC Worker Job Description


Position: Caregiver / MAC Worker (In-Home Memory Care)

Location: North Alabama (Madison, Huntsville, Athens, Decatur)
Schedule: Day, night, weekend, and flexible shifts available
 

 About the Role

Comfort Nest In-Home & Memory Care is an RN-led memory-care agency providing compassionate, non-medical support to seniors and adults with dementia. We are looking for reliable, patient, and motivated caregivers to join our team and provide high-quality in-home assistance.

As a Caregiver or MAC-delegated worker, you’ll help clients remain safe, supported, and comfortable in their homes while following a personalized care plan created by our RN.


 Primary Responsibilities

 Personal Care & Daily Living

Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
Help with toileting and incontinence care
Perform safe transfers and mobility support
Assist with meal preparation and feeding if needed
Provide light housekeeping and laundry
 

 Memory Care Support

Provide redirection, reassurance, and structured routines
Support clients experiencing sundowning, confusion, or agitation
Offer safe supervision for wandering or exit-seeking behaviors
Engage clients in meaningful conversation and activities
 

Companionship & Safety

Offer emotional support and companionship
Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment
Observe and report any changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or mood
 

 Medication Assistance (If delegated by RN)

Provide medication reminders
Assist with medication administration under RN delegation
Document medications on provided charts
Immediately report any concerns or side effects
 

Communication & Documentation

Complete accurate shift notes
Report client changes to the supervising RN
Follow the RN-developed care plan
Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
 

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
CNA, Caregiver experience OR willingness to be trained
Clean background check
Reliable transportation
Ability to lift 25–50 lbs (transfers, mobility, etc.)
Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
 

Preferred:

MAC training or willingness to be trained
Experience with dementia or behavioral clients
CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Home care or facility experience
